The City of Memphis was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts grant to create a master plan, develop designs, and create public art for the Memphis Heritage Trail. The City of Memphis partnered with the UrbanArt Commission to develop criteria and oversee the selection of two pieces of public art to be installed along the trail. The local artists that were selected include Derrick Dent, Michael Roy and Suzi Hendrix. The work is located at the Memphis Light Gas and Water Parking garage and Army and Navy Parks. The grant was for $150,000. The NEA partners for this project include: the City of Memphis, Rhodes College, Mayors Innovation Delivery Team and the UrbanArt Commission.
